The Kahumayan Festival



THE KAHUMAYAN FESTIVAL

The Kahumayan Festival is the feast that is celebrated by Kapatagueños in honor of the staple that has enriched in thousands of lives particularly in Kapatagan valley vicinity.
It is a tribute to the hardworking, industrious rice farmers who contributed to the development and prosperity of the municipality. Who are undoubtedly the most important part of the country’s national food security, the event also highlights the importance of rice, and engaged the participation of individuals and organization in the attainment of the celebrations goal, which is toimproved production to access to rice.
A showcase of these various rice products is the highlight of this event where in local folks provides a taste of their own rice recipes.
The Kahumayan Festival was celebrated every July 5-8 at Kapatagan, LanaoDelNorte.

Reaction:
            Rice is life. Rice products recipes, rituals and festivals have great significance in the country’s cultural heritage. Kahumayan Festival encourages us to promote or produce good rice products. This cultural dance was celebrated annually for the rituals of the municipality. They have their own meaning on how this tradition begins until it becomes a ritual.
